Residents in the Sleights area are coming together to champion their community at the Celebrating Sleights Volunteering Fair on 24 November.
The event is organised by the Sleights Steering group, supported by Community First Yorkshire and Stronger Communities North Yorkshire County Council. It is open to all and promises to be a celebration of local life, activities and skills. Throughout the day there will be activities and entertainment including the Sleights ‘Ukelele Fun’ group, Sleights C of E Primary School choir. There will also be face painting and games for children, an exhibition from local artists plus local produce and crafts on sale. Refreshments are also available. Entry to the event is FREE.
There will be lots of information on how people can get involved and volunteer in their local community. Confirmed exhibitors on the day, who can talk about local volunteering, include: Whitby District Community Transport • North Yorkshire Youth – Sleights’ Rocks• Scarborough and Ryedale Carers Resource – My Neighbourhood • Guides and Brownies • Esk Valley Railway Development Partnership • Whitby Area Sheds • Yorkshire Countrywomen Association • Beyond Housing • Revival North Yorkshire CIC.
