Free Event – BOOK ONLINE NOW
Has your community suffered from flooding, extreme weather, industrial accident or any kind of emergency? Or are you worried about how your community might cope if it did?
Come along to our Emergency Planning Information Event at the Milton Rooms, Malton from 10am on Tuesday 30 May to find out more.
We’re working with North Yorkshire County Council’s Emergency Planning Team to help rural communities across the county put Emergency Plans in place so that local residents know what to do should the worst happen. Emergency Plans can cover anything from designating a community building as a refuge centre, recruiting volunteers to check on vulnerable residents or identifying the owners of useful vehicles. They help community leaders organise an effective response to an emergency, and help local residents understand what they need to do.
At our Emergency Planning Information Event you’ll find out more about what is involved in putting a Community Emergency Plan together, hear about the expert support available to guide you through the process, and hear from communities who have gone through the process. There will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about Emergency Planning, and we’ll also be updating you on our work to help individual households put their own Emergency Plans together.
The event is completely free and light refreshments will be included, including breakfast sandwiches! To help us with catering arrangements, please book a place online, email our Emergency Planning Officer James Russell, or call the office on 01904 704177. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
- 10:00: Registration and breakfast.
- 10:30: Presentations.
- 12:00: We have the venue until 1pm so there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions once the presentations have concluded.
The Milton Rooms is a fantastic, recently renovated venue in the heart of Malton. Wentworth Street Long Stay Car Park and Malton Railway Station are both about five minutes’ walk away, so you’ll be within easy reach of the venue however you get there. They can also help with closer car parking arrangements for those with any mobility problems.
The Emergency Planning Project is made possible thanks to the support of the North Yorkshire Recovery Fund and Two Ridings Community Foundation.
