Scarborough: Chairing With Success
July 1 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
The chairperson of a Voluntary, Community, Social Enterprise sector organisation is responsible for the smooth running of meetings, allowing all individuals to have their say, and for guiding the organisation’s work towards the aims set out by the governing document. The chair has a critical influence on a board’s style, composition, balance and performance.
Each chair has a different style and there is no single formula for success; the factor common to top chairs is the ability to adapt their approach to the circumstances and the people they find themselves working with.
Whether you are newly appointed Chair of Trustees, or looking to improve your performance with a fresh perspective, this training event will equip you with the essential knowledge and skill-set to fulfil your role successfully.
Who should attend?
Chair of Trustees, anyone involved in chairing
What will I learn?
This short workshop will provide an opportunity to review your role and update yourself on current good practice. It will cover the following:
- Understanding the difference between strategic and operational role of a chairperson
- Effective skills for the chairperson

- Barriers to decision making
