Scarborough: General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) training – EVENT FULL

February 21, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

  • « Wensley – Richmondshire Community Buildings Network meeting
  • Scarborough: Roles & Responsibilities of Trustees »

THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT. We will be adding additional GDPR training courses in other venues around Yorkshire due to the high demand. Sign up to our email newsletter or follow us on Facebook and Twitter to be the first to hear about new training courses as they are arranged.

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) are new rules that will come into force in May 2018 and will apply to any organisation, no matter how large or small, that collects, stores or processes any kind of information about people anywhere in the European Union.

This half-day training course will give you the tools you need to be confident that your organisation is ready for the new regulations!

The course will cover questions such as:

  • How do the GDPR differ from the current Data Protection Act?
  • What is a Data Controller and what are their responsibilities?
  • What data are we allowed to have and what permission do we need to have it?
  • How do we need to update our data protection policies and procedures to comply with the new regulations?
  • What sources of support and guidance are available to help us?

And plenty more, with the opportunity to discuss your concerns and experiences and ask any questions you might have!

This course is aimed at Trustees or Directors, or those key staff or volunteers, who have or are likely to have responsibility for ensuring that their organisation complies with the new regulations. Please note that we only have space for up to two people from any one organisation to attend.

Book your place here.

You might also be interested in attending our Trustee Roles and Responsibilities training course which is taking place at the same venue in the afternoon of 21 February. Please click the link above to book your place for that course.

Cost and free places

Attendance at the course costs £24 per place, but we are able to offer free places to not-for-profit groups in North Yorkshire with an annual turnover under £5,000. To book a free place, click the green ‘Tickets’ button and register as normal, then select cheque as your payment option. You will need to send us a cheque for £24 per person made payable to Community First Yorkshire Ltd. This cheque will then be returned to you at the event. We reserve the right to bank the cheque if you do not attend without notifying us in advance.

Programme

The course will last three hours and begins at 0930 promptly. Registration will open at 0915 with light refreshments provided.

Getting there

Scarborough YMCA is on St Thomas Street in the centre of Scarborough. Unfortunately there is no car parking on site but there is plenty of on-street car parking in the area and several council-run car parks nearby. The venue is a ten minute walk from the railway station and main bus station, and local bus services stop on St Thomas Street itself.

Contact

The course will be delivered by James Russell, Development Officer at Community First Yorkshire (tel 01904 704177). Please get in touch if you have any questions.
