Community-led health: opportunities for Selby – a seminar and workshop hosted by Selby Big Local
Save the date: Tuesday 30 January
10.30-2.30pm (TBC), Community House, Selby
We know that improving health and wellbeing is important to the communities of Selby town, and that agencies, statutory organisations and community and voluntary organisations are increasingly working to find collaborative and innovative solutions to tackling health inequalities, improving mental health and reducing the effects of social isolation, and encouraging individuals and families to adopt healthier lifestyles. At Selby Big Local we are keen to explore what taking a more community-led health approach to wellbeing could mean for Selby town. What does this approach look like in practice and what are the opportunities that we can collectively support and deliver?
Find out more at our seminar and be part of the conversation – we’d love to hear your thoughts, learn from your experience and work with you to find solutions.
We will be hearing from Trevor Hopkins, co-author of ‘Head, hands and heart: asset-based approaches in health care’. Trevor has over 25 years-experience working with local government and the community sector, developing partnership approaches to improving health and challenging health inequalities.
Selby Big Local will be publishing a new two-year plan in April 2018 and the outcomes of this event and workshop discussion will play an important role in shaping our proposals for action.
We will be sending out a full invitation and more detail in early January. In the meantime, please save the date, we hope you can join us.
