Yatton House Society in Great Ayton is currently seeking to appoint a Day Service Manager to effectively run its committed service for Members with learning and physical disabilities and to lead staff and volunteers to deliver the best service possible to those who rely on Yatton House.

Yatton House Society was established in 1981 based on a founding philosophy, ‘To be individual is to be unique’. Yatton House has evolved to become a well-respected and integral part of the local community, providing support and opportunities for individuals with learning/physical disabilities. Yatton House believes in giving every individual, regardless of their ability, the chance to develop life skills, so that they may live as free and independent lives as possible. A major refurbishment of the centre is underway to provide improved facilities, with phase 1 completed earlier this year and more is planned.
About The Role
First and foremost, the role will require you to provide leadership and motivation to ensure that staff and volunteers are able to provide a sensitive, flexible, efficient and high quality services at all times to the Members. Currently the centre provides for approx 20 Members, but is looking to increase this.
You will play an integral role in ensuring that all safeguarding issues are effectively addressed and managed and that Safeguarding policies and procedures are in place and reviewed in accordance with national guidelines and legislation. The Day Service Manager will ensure that premises and equipment are maintained to a high standard at all times and that premises are secure and provide a safe and welcoming environment in line with national and trust policies.
The role will involve building strong and positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including key funding Councils. This will require someone with strong communication skills who can maintain effective lines of communication with all staff and volunteers and maintain effective two-way communication with service users, ensuring they are involved at every opportunity with what happens at Yatton House.
As Day Service Manager, you will take full responsibility for the Operational Budget of Approx £125,000 pa, ensuring that it is effectively and efficiently managed and liaise with the Treasurer and Trustees, lead on fundraising/grant bids to support and develop the service.
We are looking for a candidate who is educated to NVQ 3 or above, with previous management experience who has an in depth understanding of and experience of working with people with learning disabilities. You will be someone who is open to a challenge, and who believes in providing the best care and service possible to service users. You will have the drive, skills and enthusiasm to ensure Yatton House grows and develops.
Working 35 hours week, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,000 per annum, and the chance to work in a truly unique environment. The post is offered on a one year contract or as a secondment opportunity.
