The network gives volunteer involving organisations (VIOs) a platform with which to influence national volunteering policy and practice. It promotes the value of volunteering by developing relationships with other networks, raising the profile of volunteering within government and engaging with key decision makers.
We meet in each area four times a year, and we invite all North Yorkshire VIO’s to choose to attend the meeting in their own area, or any of the other areas. We invite external speakers from across North Yorkshire to at least one of the quarterly meetings in each area, and hold workshops and discussions and where all members can share problems, discuss solutions, share experiences and best practice.
We explore topics such as – networking cafe, volunteering/jobs fair, law and legislation update forums, targeting larger employers, making presentations to potential redundancy/retirement employees around volunteering in retirement/redundancy.
We provide training as a group and/or one to one meetings with individual organisations to provide support, and information about volunteering and information about other Community First Yorkshire services.
The benefits of attending the VNET meetings are many and varied. Come along, network with other organisations from your area, highlight your support needs and be a valuable part of shaping volunteering in your area. We can also demonstrate the new North Yorkshire Volunteering directory.
