North Yorkshire County Council has launched the North Yorkshire Smokefree Places Fund to help realise the ambition of a smokefree generation of children by 2025. Smokefree places can reduce cigarette litter, set positive role models for children and help to normalise a smokefree lifestyle.
The funding is perfect if your village hall has any outdoor space – a patio, terrace, playing field, car park and so on – or if you’re involved in any other open space in your community such as a village green or even just the area around the school gates.
Applications for funding of up to £2,000 are welcomed from any organisation who is responsible for public spaces, and who are permitted to allocate places as smokefree. Funding can be used for community events, signage and events to promote a smokefree lifestyle. To find out more and to apply for funding, here. You will need to register on the website to apply to the fund. The closing date is 5pm on 1 December 2017.
