Northern Powergrid (the electricity distribution company for the North East, Yorkshire & Humber and North Lincolnshire) has contacted their voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) infrastructure partners across their wider operating area to help them engage with organisations who work with ‘seldom heard’ people.
Northern Powergrid are seeking organisations willing to take part in three ‘Future Fairness’ panels between December 2020 and June 2021 (maximum 2.5 hours per meeting).
Northern Powergrid recognise the many competing priorities and challenges facing VCSE organisations at this time and are offering a stipend of £450 for organisations able to commit to attending the three initial meetings of the panel (£150 per session). The first ‘Future Fairness’ Panel will take place at 2.00pm on Tuesday 15 December, with further sessions in February and May next year.
Northern Powergrid is currently developing their business plan for 2023-2028. As a regulated business, their business plan needs to be agreed with Ofgem and Northern Powergrid is required to carry out intensive stakeholder and customer engagement to provide input into the business plan development. They want to ensure that their engagement is representative and inclusive and state that “Everyone in our region should have the opportunity to contribute to our plans so that all voices are heard from across the diverse communities we serve”.
The purpose of the ‘Future Fairness’ Panel is to specifically engage with organisations who work with ‘seldom heard’ customers to enable a greater understanding of these customer groups so that Northern Powergrid can ensure their future business plans adequately addresses their particular needs. They are particular keen to engage with organisations who work with the following beneficiary groups:
• Homeless people with addiction problems
• People from black and ethnic minorities
• People with communication impairments
• People with dementia
• Refugees & asylum seekers
• Ex-offenders/people on probation
• Hostels and boarding houses
• Long-term unemployed people
• People on low incomes
• Sex workers
• Single parents
• Unskilled workers
If you would like to put yourself forward to be a member of the Northern Powergrid Future Fairness Panel, please can you complete this short Expression of Interest(EOI) form via Survey Monkey by Monday 16 November. It will take you about 3 minutes to complete.
All the EOIs will then be reviewed in mid November and we will select the panel members to ensure that we have a broad range of beneficiaries and geographies represented. In the meantime, please do keep Tuesday 15 December 2.00-4.30pm which is the first Future Fairness Panel blocked out in your diary.
