Mapping the North Yorkshire VCSE workforce

The VCSE sector is a crucial part of Humber and North Yorkshire’s health and social care workforce, providing many services to our communities. However, there is a lack of understanding of what the sector’s contribution consists of, and without the data it is difficult to get system partners to recognise the size and scale of the sector. In response, Humber and North Yorkshire VCSE Collaborative has embarked on a workforce mapping exercise and launched a survey, which all VCSE organisations are invited to complete.

The survey closes 28 March 2025. Before you complete the survey, please read this guidance.

Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises and Partner 2024 Survey – Summary Findings

In 2024, we surveyed the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector and our partners about awareness and engagement with our services, priorities and challenges VCSEs are facing and suggestions for developing our service. Thank you to everyone who kindly responded. We’re exploring what you told us about your support needs and future areas of interest.

For example, you asked for training on care and wellbeing for employees and volunteers, different funding models and sources and how to measure and monitor impact – we’ve either already set these sessions up or are weaving them into our future training programme. A summary of our 2024 survey is available here.

We respond to consultations on your behalf.

Our position as an infrastructure organisation and the ACRE Network member for North, South and West Yorkshire means we use the intelligence we’ve gathered from across the sector to respond to local, regional and national consultations.

Our surveys.

During 2020 and 2021 we ran a series of surveys to measure the impact of the pandemic on the voluntary and community sector. You can find all the research findings and reports here.

Providing the voluntary and community voice

To make sure that voluntary groups and organisations have a voice, we coordinate representatives to be part of policymaking committees and boards across North, South and West Yorkshire. Take a look at agendas, minutes and papers for the groups listed.
