Are you worried that local residents can’t afford to live in your area?
Do you lack smaller homes for young people or long-term residents to downsize to?
Are you looking to deliver new housing for your community?
Community led housing can help local groups to solve housing problems, create their own genuinely affordable homes and build stronger communities.
In January 2018, Hambleton’s Hudswell Community Charity celebrated the opening of three new homes which included a contribution from the Community Housing Fund, the first in North Yorkshire.
Community First Yorkshire is now working with Hambleton District Council and Ryedale District Council to tackle the problems of providing local housing for local people at an affordable price.

Community Led Housing Conference
Over 90 people attended our Community Led Housing conference on 16 October in York. The event was a great success with a wealth of insight shared practical advice on planning and land issues, working with community groups and the wider community led housing picture.
Parish councils, community groups, land owners, or anyone interested in community-led housing can meet to find out how to develop affordable community housing. We hold various workshops across Hambleton and Ryedale and will post future dates here.
There are a lot of resources available to help you get your community-led housing project or idea off the ground.
