Community Furniture Store (Ryedale) is a charity that supports people in need in Scarborough and surrounding areas by reusing furniture and other household items. Working across an area from Whitby to Malton we collect donated items free of charge and make these available for sale at affordable prices, with discounted pricing for people on a low income. The Store offers work experience and training opportunities for people facing barriers to employment in the area. These include placements in our workshop which repairs and upcycles donated furniture, and tests donated electrical items.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and positive individual to fulfil our Workshop Supervisor vacancy. This role would suit someone from an education, support or care background, experienced in working with volunteers with various support needs and from a mixture of backgrounds. Some experience of upholstery/furniture repair/upcycling would be beneficial as this is the focus of the existing work but the workshop activities are flexible around the facilities and materials available. There will be times where the workshop supervisor will be required to assist in other areas of the charity, helping on the shop floor and with deliveries but the role will be predominantly based in the workshop.
If you feel you have the right attitude and experience, and are committed to the aims and ideals of Community Furniture Store we would love to hear from you. Download the application form and job description from http://communityfurniturestore.co.uk and return to email@example.com. Applications must be returned by Sunday 27th October (applications received after this date won’t be considered) and interviews are to be held in the first week of November.
