Trustees’ Week 2024

4-8 November 2024, celebrate the million

Every year, Trustees’ Week is a time to recognise and reward the dedication and accomplishments of nearly one million trustees across the UK.

During this week we look forward to showcasing the skills of our inspiring trustees, and thank them for the time, dedication, and effort they devote to each charity they serve.

While we celebrate our current volunteers, the latest figures show a national shortage of trustees with 90,000 vacancies across the UK (which is a shocking one in three charities!). This year we’d like to inspire future trustees and encourage anyone thinking of taking up this vital role to take a look at our helpful blogs and resources.

No matter where you are on your trustee journey, explore these resources, training and volunteering opportunities, and get involved in the celebrations by following us on FacebookX and LinkedIn.

Training opportunities

Take advantage of the upcoming training opportunities we have created for trustees:

  • Safeguarding for Trustees and Management Committees: ‘Safeguarding’. The word that’s everyone’s responsibility. Protecting people from harm applies to every single charity, not just those working with vulnerable people. Join this interactive workshop to develop your confidence in safeguarding matters and ensure that you are up to date with the latest good safeguarding governance (7 November 10-11am).
  • Exploring Safeguarding Scenarios: Have you ever wondered what to do when confronted with a safeguarding situation? What do you need report and how far do you escalate the reporting? Does the Charity Commission need to know? This training is suitable for trustees and anyone with a responsibility for the safety of those who come into contact with your organisation, whether they are beneficiaries, volunteers, staff, or visitors (20 November 10am-3pm).
