The North Yorkshire County Council Outbreak Management Advisory Board met on 18 August.
The aim of the Board is to keep the public and businesses up-to-date with the county’s test, trace and contain plan for Covid-19. To make this easier, this week’s meeting was the first to be livestreamed and recorded. Watch the recording here.
The Board consists of representatives from North Yorkshire County Council, district councils, the health system, LEP, care sector, Healthwatch, Police and schools. The VCSE sector is represented by Leah Swain, Chief Executive, Community First Yorkshire.
Agenda items for the meeting included updates on the Covid-19 situation in North Yorkshire, an update on actions in high risk locations and a discussion on ‘Beyond the Data: Understanding the impact of Covid-19 on Black, Asian and Ethnic Groups.’
Leah asked the Public Health team to consider how the VCSE sector could support their work to reach BAME communities and to disseminate general health information to tackle underlying health issues alongside information on Covid-19.
