Helping voluntary and community groups, social enterprises and charities to thrive by developing essential business skills is an important part of representative role.
The Skills Board is a sub-committee of the Local Enterprise Partnership Board and leads on the LEP’s policy relating to enhancing skills amongst the population, with the aim of increasing productivity and employment. Sam Alexander, CEO of Your Consortium and Laura Mason of NYBEP, are the voluntary sector representatives who sit on this board.
The Local Action Groups (LAGs) are groups of individuals who broadly represent the interests of communities and businesses. There two groups in North Yorkshire: the North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER LAG and the Yorkshire Dales LEADER LAG. The groups help to set policy and provide strategic steer to the LEADER Programme through involvement in the consultation process, requests for feedback and at regular LAG events.
