Community First Yorkshire has produced a new report on co-producing community-based solutions with people who have experienced mental ill-health.
The new ‘With us, by us, for us in North Yorkshire’ report has been produced by Community First Yorkshire on behalf of the new Transforming Adult Community Mental Health Services (TACMHS) Partnership in North Yorkshire.
The report describes the challenges of transforming together quite traditional services and ways of working; the ambition of co-designing solutions for people with serious mental illness and the importance of understanding localities together and taking a strengths-based approach.
This is an ambitious initiative to improve outcomes for people with a serious mental illness across North Yorkshire and will more fully involve people with lived experience and the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. This, in combination with investment in primary and secondary services, will make services more accessible across communities. It differs from earlier initiatives, in that there is a new emphasis on local collaboration between all sectors, greater equity and the co-design of new solutions.
The report engaged a wide variety of VCSE organisations, people with lived experience and public sector colleagues in understanding the challenges and opportunities this way of working presents.
