15 hours per week in North Craven
NJC Salary Point 27 – £25,295 pro rata
Community First Yorkshire is recruiting a part time Community Builder Post to work in the Craven District of North Yorkshire. This home-based post will support a developing cohort of “Community Connectors” in North Craven neighbourhoods to March 2021. There is a possibility of extension subject to funding.
We are looking for a self-starter who is able to work alongside people in communities to explore how they can discover, celebrate and connect the often hidden strengths of people in neighbourhoods.
The Community Builder will be working through an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) method of working with the existing strengths of people in communities, offering support in a way that builds capacity and connects people locally around the things that matter to them.
We are seeking someone who recognises that to be most helpful at neighbourhood level, often the best course of action is to lead by stepping back and never doing for someone something that is better done by people in the community.
North Yorkshire County Council’s Stronger Communities Programme and the NHS, as part of the Craven Communities Together Partnership, fund this post. Employed by Community First Yorkshire, with occasional travel to its York office; the post holder will work collaboratively with the local Stronger Communities Delivery Manager and will receive active support from Nurture Development.
