Healthwatch has been set up across England to give patients, people who use services and local communities a strong voice in influencing decisions about health and social care services. Healthwatch York provides this service across the City of York Council area.
Healthwatch York is a small organisation with a wide remit. Our success as a team depends on all staff being flexible, co-operative and supportive of other staff members working in different roles.
We are seeking a dynamic Research Officer to lead our essential research and insight work. This is an exciting opportunity to support a successful organisation to gather local people’s experiences of health and social care services, and communicate these in a way that drives positive change across the health and social care system.
The successful applicant will take the lead on coordinating all research and insight projects for Healthwatch York. You will design and deliver a wide range of research initiatives aimed at gathering people’s views of health and social care services in York, analysing information received from a variety of sources to identify themes and trends. This will include writing accessible and engaging reports to present our findings, with recommendations that support service improvement inline with people’s feedback.
You will work closely with our Engagement Officer, overseeing their work, and provide guidance and support to the Healthwatch York volunteers undertaking research roles.
Previous experience of planning and coordinating research and engagement projects is essential, as is a broad understanding of research methodologies and techniques. You will have sound verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop communication materials that are accessible to a variety of audiences.
