Citizens Advice York is looking for a volunteer Clerk to Trustees
Would you like to help
- your community change things for the better?
- run an influential, important local charity?
Citizens Advice York provides advice to over 5,000 people a year, helping them with some 15,000 different problems; particularly debt, benefits, employment and the family.
We have a small professional team working alongside and supporting around 40 volunteers to provide advice at the City Council offices in York, at various outreach venues around the city and on the phone.
Citizens Advice York is a member of the national Citizens Advice organisation. It’s a local charity at the heart of our community entirely funded by grants, donations and fees for contracted services.
We have a vacancy for a new volunteer to support the trustee board as a Clerk to Trustees.
The Clerk will work closely with the Chair of Trustees, Trustee Board, which is responsible for the charity’s overall direction, strategy and performance and CEO. It’s a stimulating, responsible and important role.
We are looking for someone either with experience working with a board of directors, school governors/charity trustees in a similar role or with the professional skills/experience gained in a management role that would enable them, with the support of the Chair/trustees, to swiftly pick up the role. The position may well be of interest to a recently qualified solicitor or a young manager interested in getting hands on experience working with trustees in an interesting charity. Knowledge/experience of Citizens Advice is not essential.
We welcome applications from people from all the different backgrounds that make up the community: women, men, people of all ages and sexual orientations, disabled people, black, Asian and minority ethnic people and those of all different religious beliefs and none.
The Board normally meets six times a year. There are also occasional strategy and other meetings for the Clerk to attend.
If you are interested in becoming the Clerk to Trustees please see the Role Description at www.yorkcab.org.uk and call 01904 623648 tocarrange an informal chat with John Short (Chair of Trustees).
More information about Citizens Advice York and an application form are available at www.yorkcab.org.uk, or you can ask for them by phone on 01904 623648.
The deadline for applications is 9.00am on Monday 16th September 2019.
We will arrange to meet those short listed on Friday, 4th October 2019
